How much ice cream and frozen fruit do I need to use to make a real fruit ice cream?

You simply use two scoops (approximately 60 grams/2 ounces per scoop) of either vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt and add one spoon of frozen fruit (approximately 30 grams). Blend and serve.

What temperature is most beneficial to blend real fruit and ice cream or frozen yogurt?

To create the perfect real fruit ice cream in your Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machine, we like to have both the ice cream/ frozen yogurt around -12 to -16 degree Celsius. This makes the texture firm and also easy to scoop and blend. The frozen fruit should be kept at the same temperature. For best results we store our ice cream at a lower -18 to -20 degrees in one freezer and use another freezer to keep the fruit and ice cream/frozen yogurt at the optimal temperature for blending. If you only have one freezer you can manage both of these requirements by placing the ice cream or frozen yogurt and the frozen fruit higher up in the freezer. Remember the secret to making great blended ice cream in any real fruit ice cream machine is to have the ingredients at the optimal temperature, so get yourself a good thermometer to check the temperature of the freezer, ice cream or both.

Is there a need to prepare fruit prior to freezing?

Yes, there is. You want to make sure large fruits like bananas, mangos, melon, kiwifruit and strawberries are pre-diced to a size of about 0.5 cm x 0.5 cm before you put them in the freezer.

Can I also blend other ingredients apart from frozen fruit with the ice cream or frozen yogurt?

Yes, it is possible to blend all different kinds of ingredients like chocolate, mint, cookies, hokey pokey etc. Our Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machines are made tough with a heavy stainless steel auger perfect for blending a variety of ingredients. Can I make use of a dairy free alternative in order to being able to offer vegan real fruit ice cream?

Yes, it possible to also use one of the many dairy free alternatives to regular ice cream like e.g. coconut or soy based ice cream.

Is there a need to clean the machine in between servings?

No, you can use it to rinse the mixing bowl/cone from berries to fruit etc. and it is handy to clean the auger and bowl if you have not made an ice cream for a while. But if you are using the machine continuously with the same colour of fruit or berries then you don’t have to rinse your Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machine. Spin away any excess water with the auger so that the water will not affect the consistency of your ice cream.

How long does it take to clean the Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machine during the working day?

It will take you only a couple of minutes to remove the mixing bowl, the auger, the drip tray and the splash guard. Wash in some soapy hot water, rinse, dry and reassemble.


How do I clean the Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machine at the end of the working day?

Again disassembly is very quick and requires no tools. We have videos explaining this process in our YouTube channel. All of the removable parts can be cleaned in a dishwasher or washed in hot water. The rest of your Trendyblends Real Fruit Ice Cream Machine can be cleaned by wiping down with a warm cloth and some sanitizing liquid. Any hard to reach places can be cleaned with a bottle brush. The whole cleaning will take you only a couple of minutes.

What kind of freezer should I use?

We use the general ice cream display freezer (small to medium size) and an additional standup freezer. Other customers use just the display freezer. They have glass sliding lids and a size of about .6m to 1.4 m. This gives you enough room plus easy access to your ice cream, frozen yogurt and the frozen fruit. The display freezer is preferable as it will not let in warm air or push cold air out when opening which a normal chest or standup freezer will. These freezers can warm up with excess opening of the doors and can change the temperature in your freezer. Remember it takes a lot longer to freeze ice cream than it does for it to get warm.
